Brenda Costigan started appraising real estate in New Jersey in 1978. After completing the required apprenticeship, she started her own independent appraisal firm and, in 1983, her husband Philip joined her. It was then that they established The Costigan Appraisal Company, Inc.

After almost three decades, with 12,000 + appraisals to date, we have forged strong ties with many local realtors from the majority of the firms that serve the Northern New Jersey marketplace. We are proud to call ourselves members of the Multiple Listing Services that cover the entire Northern New Jersey region. In addition, we have cultivated a working relationship with local assessors, zoning officers, building inspectors, home inspectors, real estate attorneys and builders in the various communities we service. This was and continues to be a key component in providing fast, well-researched and accurate appraisals. This extensive network of respected professionals helps to ensure the appraisal we perform on any given property is of the highest possible quality.

As a bonus, we confer with one another on each assignment. In a very real sense, our clients receive a benefit afforded by no other firm we know of, namely, the experience of two appraisers with decades in the field, for the price of one.

We are experts in the field of relocation appraising with over 2,000 such appraisals done for a diverse range of companies ranging from single employee transfers by small businesses to mass moves by Fortune 500 firms, including many of their C.E.O.'s, C.F.O.'s & presidents.

Our archives date back to 1982. This means we can provide historical valuations on properties back to that point in time for the purpose of settling estates, matrimonial disputes, trusts and the like.

Vacant land parcels, manufactured homes, light industrial, commercial, mixed use properties, horse farms, funeral homes, multi-million dollar estates - we've appraised them all. No two properties are exactly alike. For us, this is the challenge and this is the reward - each assignment is a new experience and we bring that type of enthusiasm to bear on each new task we are given.
